OMAHA (DTN) -- Retail fertilizer prices continue to rise according to sellers tracked by DTN for the first week of March 2025.
Once again, all eight fertilizers are higher compared to last month. DTN designates a significant move as anything 5% or more.
One fertilizer was considerably higher. UAN28 was 7% higher compared to last month with an average price of $354/ton.
The remaining seven other fertilizers were slightly more expensive looking back a month. DAP had an average price of $765/ton, MAP $810/ton, potash $447/ton, urea $548/ton, 10-34-0 $646/ton, anhydrous $751/ton and UAN32 $397/ton.
On a price per pound of nitrogen basis, the average urea price was $0.60/lb.N, anhydrous $0.46/lb.N, UAN28 $0.63/lb.N and UAN32 $0.62/lb.N.
Canadian potash fertilizer tariffs are set at 10% after originally being 25%, according to a DTN article from last week. (https://www.dtnpf.com/…). The new deadline for tariffs going into effect is April 2.
President Donald Trump said he would allow products that are traded under the rules of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the trade pact he signed in his first term, but Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins pointed out he reduced the tariff on potash that was not covered under the USMCA.
"President Trump's announcement which includes a reduction of tariffs on potash not already covered under the USMCA from 25% to 10% is a critical step in helping farmers manage and secure key input costs at the height of planting season while reinforcing long-term agricultural trade relations," Rollins said in a news release.
Four fertilizers are now higher in price compared to one year earlier. Both DAP and UAN32 are 1% higher, UAN28 is 3% more expensive and 10-34-0 is 4% more expensive looking back to last year.
The remaining four fertilizers are lower. MAP is 1% less expensive, urea is 3% lower, anhydrous is 5% lower and potash is 12% less expensive compared to last year.
DTN gathers fertilizer price bids from agriculture retailers each week to compile the DTN Fertilizer Index. DTN first began reporting data in November 2008.

The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) is committed to working with the Trump Administration to promote a strong fertilizer industry that supports US farmers, according to a TFI press release. You can read about it here: https://www.dtnpf.com/….
